Lakota Longwalker Native American Flute Concert

Lakota Longwalker is a Native American Flautist, Folk/Rock/Metal guitarist, Stone Sculptor, Native flute/instrument maker, beadwork jewelry artisan and teacher nominated twice for Native American Music awards as an independent solo artist. He comes from the Keetoowah Band of Tsalagi (Cherokee) of Oklahoma, now residing in Helsinki, Finland. Longwalker’s mission is to share rare and endangered Native American Flute music and perpetuate dying forms of Wind instruments. Longwalker revived extinct methods of stone flute construction which originated with the Inca and Lakota peoples.

His concert consists of traditional Native American Flute Music from North and South America honoring sacred and secular traditions. Instruments that will be heard during this performance are Courting Flutes, Cherokee Transverse Flute, Cochiti Pueblo Drum, and Incan panpipes. In between songs, the traditions, and construction methods will be discussed for each type of flute, and its cultural significance.
